A Coastal Canopy of Retail Elegance
Situated near the Red Sea coastline, Central Park Mall required a custom-designed shading system that combines environmental performance with visual appeal. Tamimi Steel & Membrane delivered a circular tensile canopy that enhances both the mall’s architectural identity and its climate responsiveness.
The design integrates a radial cable-supported PTFE membrane system anchored by compression rings and steel masts. This coastal project balances structural elegance with marine-grade durability to withstand humidity, salt exposure, and heat.
Though not a façade in the traditional sense, the tensile roof becomes a visual centerpiece of the mall. Its high-translucency PTFE fabric allows for ambient daylight while reducing solar gain, giving the retail environment a modern, airy feel.

The Central Park canopy showcases early innovation in blending commercial architecture with tensile technology. It reflects Tamimi’s forward-looking approach to coastal design—offering functionality, elegance, and climate sensitivity in one structural form.
