Sahara Mall
Riyadh’s Signature Tensile Dome
Situated in one of Riyadh’s busiest commercial zones, Sahara Mall features a signature tensile membrane dome that defines the central food court. Designed to merge structural clarity with environmental comfort, the dome functions as both a focal architectural element and a high-performance shading system within the retail complex.

The tensile dome spans 40 meters in diameter, forming a symmetrical circular geometry. It is supported by six external galvanized steel masts and stabilized by a radial cable system. A custom stained-glass centerpiece at the dome’s apex introduces natural light and visual identity to the food court below.

The dome appears luminous and weightless, allowing sunlight to diffuse softly during the day while reducing thermal gain. The stained-glass center adds color, orientation, and visual rhythm to the interior environment.
