As a major node in Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High-Speed Rail network—connecting Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and KAEC—the King Abdullah Economic City Station was conceived as a modern, high-capacity transport hub. Tamimi Steel & Membrane was entrusted with the design-execution scope of the platform roofing system, delivering a lightweight, modular tensile structure that ensures climatic comfort, architectural distinctiveness, and structural longevity.
Installation Strategy:

Roofing installed via a sequential modular lifting plan, ensuring zero interference with ongoing station infrastructure works
Membranes deployed only after validation of structural framing and post-tension verification of cable systems
Precise integration of lighting, drainage, and fire protection systems was coordinated with the canopy’s geometric profile

Material Performance & Detailing:
- The KAEC Station tensile canopy reflects the identity of high-speed transport—lightweight, fluid, and forward-facing. It elevates the passenger experience while ensuring year-round comfort, and remains one of the Kingdom’s most iconic examples of tensile architecture in public infrastructure.
